University of Northern Iowa’s 2014 Midwest Summer Institute: Inclusion & Communication for All
The University of Northern Iowa’s Continuing Education Program, in partnership with Syracuse University’s Institute on Communication and Inclusion and Inclusion Connection, is hosting the 2014 Midwest Summer Institute: Inclusion & Communication for All on June 23-24, 2014.
Join with a community of educators, families, individuals with and without disabilities, support personnel, and researchers for two days of presentations, discussions, panels, hands-on learning, and networking across the Midwest.
The Midwest Summer Institute will focus on (a) Inclusive schools, employment, and daily living and (b) Communication and supported or facilitated typing for people with autism spectrum disabilities and other complex communication needs.
Nationally recognized and area experts on school and community inclusion and alternative communication supports will be attending the event. Featured presenters will include:
- Kathie Snow of Disability is Natural
- Darlene Hanson, Director of Communication Supports at WAPADH (Whittier, CA)
- Tracy Thresher, self-advocate featured in the award winning documentary Wretches & Jabberers. Tracy was one of the Master Trainers at Saved By Typing’s recent Master Trainer Conference.
