Colts’ Joe Reitz Scores A Touchdown As Special Guest At SBT’s April Celebration Of Communication

Saved By Typing’s monthly Celebration of Communication was a bit blue in April… Colts’ Blue, that is! Typers, their family, and other attendees showed up in their Colts jerseys to honor the event’s special guest, #76, offensive lineman Joe Reitz.

While his 6’7″, 320 pound frame cuts an imposing path on the gridiron, his kind and gentle demeanor gained him immediate acceptance from the often shy typers, many of them diehard Colts fans who had been anticipating the event for weeks. And they were not disappointed.

Joe, a graduate of Hamilton Southeastern H.S. and still-current resident of Fishers, took time out of his busy schedule (including signing a qualifying offer with the Colts for the upcoming season last week) to meet with the attendees, talk about his life and career, and answer questions from his excited fans. He met with the typers and family members as he walked around the room and watched as typers typed messages and questions to him.

A few of the questions Joe fielded included:
  • What were his plans for the future after football?
  • How is his relationship with the players and other members of the Colts organization?
  • What it’s like behind the scenes with other players?
  • How does he approach life and his faith on a daily basis?

Joe provided insightful, and often humorous answers to the questions. For example, when asked about his home life with wife Jill, daughter, Julianna, and son, AJ, Joe mentioned that his wife is very supportive of his career, so much so that she mows the the lawn at home so that he doesn’t sweat off weight. (Good one, Joe!)

As illustrated by the slideshow below, everyone had a great time, with huge smiles all around.
